Participants for the first Congo Basin Frontiers of Science Symposium on Security of Biodiversity, Climate, and Natural Resources need to meet the following qualifications:

  • Be employed in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Africa or one of the countries in the Congo basin region, but citizenship of the country of residence is not required. Have demonstrated accomplishment in basic science research with recognizable contributions to advancing their fields.
  • Have demonstrated accomplishment in basic science research with recognizable contributions to advancing their fields.
  • Possess the potential to be a future leader in science and have demonstrated an impact on the development of their country (participation in scientific projects, /scientific meetings/contribution to the promotion of science within society.
  • Be an emerging leader in their field of research. Active researchers and professionals from industry, academia, public service, non-profit and other sectors with a terminal degree (current students not eligible).
  • Selected members should typically be not more than 20 years of their advanced degree at the experience level.
  • Professional proficiency in English and or French (talks will be in English ONLY but abstracts can be submitted in English or French, abstracts in French will be translated to English before publication of the proceeding).
  • Be interested in developments in other fields (and in engaging with people working on them) and be able to consider how advances, techniques, and approaches in those areas relate to their work.
  • Conduct research with global relevance and with a strong potential for developmental impact in the Congo basin, Africa and the world.
